We're Hiring! Tourism Development Officer (Canada Summer Jobs Grant Position)

The Southern Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce is looking for an energetic and motivated Tourism Development Officer to help amplify our local business community and Chamber members across Midland, Penetanguishene, Tiny, and Tay.

This position is made possible through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and is available to applicants between the age of 18-29 years.

What You’ll Do

• Build and manage the SGB Chamber’s event calendar, showcasing local businesses, organizations, and experiences
• Lead and coordinate our Summer Pop-Ups program—working directly with Chamber members to plan and execute a dynamic activation schedule
• Help amplify Chamber members and local businesses through social media, newsletters, and digital campaigns
• Connect with member businesses, tourism operators, and not-for-profits to increase their visibility and participation
• Support and promote member events, festivals, and family-friendly programming
• Assist with planning and executing Chamber events that bring the business community together
• Help develop and promote tourism packages that showcase multiple local businesses
• Create engaging content that tells the story of our local business community

What You Bring

• Strong communication and organization skills
• Confidence engaging with local businesses and community partners
• Ability to coordinate multiple moving pieces (events, schedules, partners)
• Creativity and a passion for storytelling and community
• Interest in tourism, marketing, events, or business
• Confidence using social media and digital tools
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Position Details

Location: Southern Georgian Bay (in-person)

Duration: 14-week full-time summer position (Canada Summer Jobs)

Wage: $20 per hour
