The Local Lowdown: Sunday Restoration

Date Published

Welcome to The Local Lowdown, where locals and visitors alike can discover the businesses that make Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay and Tiny special!

Maybe you’ll find a new menu item, discover a service you didn’t know existed, or stumble upon a local business you never knew was right here in our community. Whatever the discovery, we’re here to help you shop local, explore local and get to know the people behind the businesses in Southern Georgian Bay.

To kick things off, we’re featuring a business we personally love and one we often recommend to visitors looking for something a little different. Introducing Sunday Restoration!

Sunday Restoration truly embodies the definition of a hidden gem. As you travel along King Street in Midland, you might catch a glimpse of a blue barn tucked behind a beautiful home, across from the recreation centre and curling club. Step inside, and you’ll discover a treasure trove of vintage finds, including glassware, lamps, artwork, home décor, accessories, clothing and so much more.

The experience is just as special as the finds themselves. Items are often thoughtfully colour-coordinated, creating a beautiful, elevated shopping experience that makes browsing the barn a treat all on its own.

While there are incredible pieces to discover year-round, Sunday Restoration also brings in special seasonal finds for occasions like Halloween and the holidays. Think quality pieces with a nostalgic feel that bring back memories while adding a little character to your home. These seasonal collections are some of our favourite times to visit!

Speaking of the holidays, November is the perfect time to visit for another reason: Sunday Restoration’s holiday market on November 21st, 2026 from noon to 7pm.

Alongside shopping in the barn, you’ll find local makers bringing their own unique products to the market. It’s a wonderful opportunity to find gifts for others, pick up something special for yourself and support multiple small, local businesses in one visit.

If you’re looking to make a dent in your holiday shopping while discovering talented local makers, this is one to add to your list!

Owners Jacqueline and Will do more than curate a wonderful collection of vintage treasures. They are also passionate supporters of our community and have made giving back an important part of what they do.

They’ve hosted their clothing swap for five years and their holiday market for four years, while supporting organizations including the Georgian Bay Native Friendship Centre, Georgian Bay Food Network, We Are The Villagers, Askennonia Senior Centre, Huronia Transition Homes and many more.

It’s businesses like Sunday Restoration that remind us shopping local is about more than what you bring home. It’s also about supporting the people who give so much back to the community we share.
