Huronia Players Theatre Group
Sixty-plus years of proving that small-town stages tell the biggest stories
Founded in 1962, Huronia Players is Midland's volunteer-driven community theatre group, now performing out of their intimate 121-seat theatre inside the Midland Cultural Centre at King and Elizabeth Streets. What started as a handful of teachers and friends putting on plays for fun has grown into a proper theatrical institution with close to 200 productions under its belt, multiple ACT-CO Festival awards, and a reputation for punching well above its weight class.
The group stages three major productions each season and offers youth programs, workshops, and a bursary for students pursuing the performing arts at the post-secondary level. No experience is required to get involved: actors, set builders, costume makers, lighting techs, and anyone willing to show up and pitch in are welcome. Huronia Players also hosts community events like trivia nights and an annual Season Call where newcomers can learn what's coming up and find their spot.
