The Wye Marsh is one of Ontario’s largest intact wetlands and is designated a National Wildlife Area, Important Bird Area and Area of Natural Significance. The 3,000 acres of forest, fen and wetland are home to an astounding 595 plant and animal species, including several threatened birds and reptiles. The Wye Marsh, like all wetlands are places of great biodiversity offering a diversity of habitats and food sources for wildlife. Wetlands also improve water quality and regulate water flow in times of flooding.

February 2nd is World Wetland Day and to acknowledge and celebrate the wonders of wetlands, the Friends of Wye Marsh are encouraging everyone to show their support for Wye Marsh by visiting the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre on February 2nd or by making a donation to support the work of the Friends of Wye Marsh. The Friends of Wye Marsh also ask you to save the date for their fundraising event Wine & Whisky for Wetlands, March 20th at the Library Restaurant, tickets $25 ($15 for designated drivers.
