mmmMember Food Fridays: Café Kittyhawk

Fairly new in the Town of Penetanguishene’s downtown strip, Café Kittyhawk opened in June of 2020 ready to supply the community with coffee, pastries, sandwiches and more!

Café Kittyhawk took up residence in a former cafe that had closed due to the pandemic in March of 2020; once again offering the community a small, locally owned spot for coffee as an alternative to the nearby Tim Hortons. Owned by Justin McIntaggart of History Barbershop, and Kate Hartberg, Café Kittyhawk has created an atmosphere of all artisanal products that are locally made and coffee sourced from a variety of fair-trade roasters!

The cafe’s name is a tribute to the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, the American aviation pioneers credited with inventing and flying the world’s first airplane near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903! As a lover of Southern Georgian Bay Orville, built a cottage on Lambert Island and named his boat “Kittyhawk”.

Café Kittyhawk is located at 4 Robert St West in downtown Penetanguishene and is open 8am to 3pm Monday through Saturday.

Now for some Chamber employee recommendations:

Jenna loves the Chickpea Salad Sandwich that is a vegan twist of the classic Egg Salad Sandwich! It’s filling, full of flavour and she always has to get the Bread Pudding if it’s available!

Seraphina’s go to is the P’tang Hoagie – a sandwich inspired by Café Kittyhawk’s hometown!
