Bowling and banquets at the same facility?

That’s exactly what Knights of Huronia Inc. offers from its location on Poyntz Street not far from Penetanguishene’s downtown.

The not-for-profit organization has been very involved in the community since being established in 1956.

“That’s right 65 years this year and we have been unable to really celebrate due to COVID safety protocols and precautions,” says Mike Dupuis, general manager of Knight Haven Bowling Lanes, Conference & Banquet Hall.

“We are truly fortunate to have a conference, meeting and banquet hall and with this hall we have celebrated weddings, celebrations of life, birthdays and anniversaries.”

In fact, Dupuis points out that they just hosted a couple celebrating 50 years of marriage, who actually had their wedding celebration in the hall 50 years ago.

But over the years, the facility has also hosted and continues to host classroom-style training, social events and fundraisers from all four surrounding communities.

And hopefully in January, the onsite Knight Haven Bowling Lanes will have 10 bowling leagues plus glow-in-the-dark, open five-pin bowling going strong.

“Our seniors’ bowling league is a great way to do passive exercise and meet socially,” Dupuis says enthusiastically.

“Bowling is for everybody and anybody, new and experienced bowlers. It’s a great way to meet friends, be as competitive as you want and always a great place to smile, laugh, party and have fun!”

Knight Haven Bowling Lanes, Conference & Banquet Hall is dedicated to helping individuals, organizations, sports teams, businesses and also supports local food banks.

Dupuis says volunteers have played a huge part in operations over the last 20-plus months.

“We have depended on them a lot more and we are needing to source more volunteers, young and young at heart for so many of our functions,” he explains.

“If you have a couple of hours a week or just some time once in a while….oh boy, can we use the extra hands.”

Both facilities are licensed under the L.L.B.O and open for reservations.

Management, staff and volunteers are 100% double vaccinated and abide by all COVID safety protocols and precautions.
